I purchased this dictionary to replace The American Heritage Talking Dictionary which will not work under Windows 7 Professional 64 bit. Besides working under Windows 7, my criteria was a dictionary and thesaurus that did not require Internet access for full functionality. After reading various reviews on the Merriam Webster’s dictionaries I was skeptical about their functionality with Windows 7. It seems that most of the problems occur with various older versions on CD. However, after downloading this I was pleasantly surprised as to how nicely this works.
This dictionary will look up any highlighted word in your browser, word processor, or email program almost instantly. Highlight a word with your mouse or keyboard, press the hot key combination, and presto! It looks up the word.
The audio pronunciations work fine when available. Most common words seem to have audio pronunciations, but not all words include this feature.
One flaw: The dictionary, once open, will not respond to many of the standard Windows hot key combinations. For example, Alt + Spacebar then n should minimize the dictionary Window to get it out of the way, but it does not. It does not respond to the hot key combination of Windows Key + m to minimize all Windows. This wasn’t a fatal trait, but exclusively keyboarding without a mouse is nearly not an option. Within the dictionary Window, I have to use the mouse to select the thesaurus section and to get back to the dictionary entry. Because of this I almost reduced my rating from 5 to 4 Stars.
One tap of Alt + TAB will put the previously active Window in front of the dictionary which is good enough. It is just a new habit for me to learn.
I looked at several other dictionary programs before choosing to try this one. Without a doubt, this one produces the most bang for the buck!

I have downloaded the dictionary and installed it without any issue. I needed a trusted dictionary on my laptop and use it without internet connection. This is perfect product for me. Audio pronunciation is awesome.
