NVIDIA 1gb not 2gb…runs nice.. but…, May 22, 2012

Well i thought i was going to end up with the best laptop for this price.. but it ends up not having the 2gb overclocked nvidia card.. runs pretty smooth no cd drive i dident see that in the description..
all in all great looking laptop nice features compared to others around the same price.. there was only two other laptops around this price with better specs.. but none of them are ultra portable

Add a Seagate Momentus XT 750 and it’s an ultrabook, August 26, 2012

I bought this laptop specifically to run Linux and it does a good job of it so far.

The upsides — fast processor and decent NVIDIA GPU, compact size and great battery life.
The downsides — keyboard is not backlit and the stock hard drive is horribly slow. If you have the technical wherewithal, replace it with a Seagate Momentus XT 750 ($130) and you will be much happier. There are YouTube videos showing how to upgrade the U36SD and the U36SG is basically the same. It is a pain but well worth it.

Edit: Under light load (browsing and email), with my configuration (running Linux and with hybrid drive installed), it would appear that battery runtime is about 7 hours with NVIDIA GPU disabled. Awesome!

it satisfies every aspect of my requirement, June 2, 2012

it satisfies every aspect of my requirement:
1. light..en..only 0.6lbs to my idea level
2. it is quiet…
3. it is i7..it is actually 2640m..not 2620..
4. long battery hours…9 hours if just surf web or text editing
5. entry level GPU: 610M ..it is 1G ..not 2G
6. it is nanometer coating..look sexy…actually very close to apple in terms of design effect
7. not some many trash software preinstalled
8. it is 6G ram..
a little concern:
no DVD drive..not know what will happen if need one..the price is fine..but the lower the better..lol..

I am very happy I bought this laptop
